Translation: José Luis Rico
from Minä heiluu (“I Swings”)
Palladium Kirjat, 2019
My dream: to be useless
and vanish in the horizon
meanings hide, they don’t reveal their musings
they spew their untrue statements from their hideouts
suspicious like small animals
*
how lonely
how detached
how tired I am
how tired are you
how everything must be always explained
how thoroughly the self is monitored
how everything is always somehow sticky
*
alone and happy
opposite the forest
it’s raining sleet, soundlessly
*
I am a door
that swings
that I am
watch
I swings
Mikko Väänänen (1980) is a freelance writer and researcher. At a conceptual level, he is interested in the modes and possibilities of encounter, and the collision of opposites. Sometimes Väänänen’s texts resort to poetry; sometimes they turn into prose or philosophical essays. He thinks of writing as a Zen-like exercise, where the mind manifests. Published works: Merkintöjä Intiasta (Basam Books, 2019), Tämä – matka ei mihinkään (together with Mika Pekkola, Basam Books, 2019), and Minä heiluu (Palladium Kirjat, 2019).
