New Havens & Humanoids (2023-2024) – Recap and Mixer

Sat, Nov 9th, 2024, 17:00

Kone Foundation’s Kamari (Tehtaankatu 21 B 45, 5. kerros, Helsinki)

In January 2023, Sivuvalo begun a new phase with the Kone-sponsored New Havens & Humanoids project. Throughout these two years, we have translated single poems and entire books from Finnish, given feedback on many dozen pieces of literature at our workshops, and organized nearly twenty events in Helsinki and abroad. Sivuvalo’s goal to promote a culture of translation in Finland lies behind each of these lines of work: projecting Finnish-language literature (esp. poetry) abroad and fostering the development of non-official-language writers. In other words, we want to bring humanoids together and help them find new havens in Finland and elsewhere.

After roughly 100 weeks of this endeavor, we want to celebrate with our collaborators and friends. Thus, you are invited to our Nov 9th Recap and Mixer. The event will showcase a handful of our workshop participants featured in the New Finnish Writers Publication Series alongside some of the poets we’ve translated from and to Finnish.

We will serve food & refreshments!
