Helsinki Book Fair

This year Helsinki Book Fair focuses on Nordic literature and culture. The Nordic Culture Point emphasizes also themes such as immigration and social development and included Mutanttikieltä as part of its program.
Mutanttikieltä is an experimental language program created by Sivuvalo project in 2015. It looks to acknowledge the problematic of literary translation as a core subject for writers in times of Diaspora: The right to be listened, the right to be read. Which will be the literary corpus in the following decades, in which languages?
◌ INVITED POETS:
Muhaned Durubi is an Iraqi painter and writer born in Baghdad. He escaped into Finland in 2014 and is currently based in Helsinki. Currently, he is member of the ‘Iraqi Plastic Artists Society’ and ‘Helsinki International Artists Society’.
Ye Yint Thet Zwe is a Burmese poet Based in Helsinki. In 1988 became part of the student army leaving Burma in 1990 for political reasons, he has resided in many countries and finally in Finland. “We hate war, mother” is his first published book.
Roxana Crisólogo is a Peruvian poet and cultural activist based in Finland. She has published four poetry books. Crisólogo is the founder and co-director of ‘Sivuvalo: Is this Finnish literature?’
◌ CALLIGRAPHY INTERVENTIONS:
Li Xinsheng is an artist from China, MA, Chinese calligraphy and painting teacher in Confucius Institute at Helsinki University, also in Helsinki and Espoo työväenopisto.

Saara Olarte is a freelance harpist, classical musician and improviser from Helsinki.

Mutanttikieltä on kokeelinen kieliohjlema. Se korostaa kirjallisuuden käännösten merkitys diasporan aikakaudessa. Mistä tulee koostumaan seuraavien vuosikymmenten kirjallisuuden corpus, ja millä kielillä? Muhaned Durubi, Roxana Crisólogo, Ye Yint Thet Zwe, Xinsheng Li.

Pohjoismaat ovat tänä vuonna teemana Helsingin kirjamessuilla. Pohjoismainen kulttuuripiste on mukana pohjoismaisella messuosastolla Norden 2016 Pohjola, ja on mukana järjestämässä pohjoismaista ohjelmakokonaisuutta messun lavoilla.
